We are delighted to announce that Erin Beffa, Digital Silence Threat Intelligence Practice Lead, has earned the Open-source Intelligence Professional (OSIP) certification after successfully completing the IntelTechniques Open-source Intelligence Training Program in May 2022. The OSIP Certification is the first and only globally recognized and accredited board certification for open source intelligence. The certification program is inclusive of both coursework and the practical demonstration of an end-to-end intelligence operation. In order to successfully obtain the certification, applicants must be able to successfully navigate an investigation from assignment to the production of an “exceptionally well-constructed, substantiated, and articulated intelligence report.”
Open-source Intelligence (OSINT) focuses on advanced tools and techniques to gather and analyze publicly-available data from the surface web, deep web, and dark web. Going far beyond simple Google searches, OSINT professionals utilize multiple methods to locate valuable information to assist legal counsel, identify security threats, and help clients to understand the full scope of their digital fingerprint.
Erin is a passionate advocate for the use of OSINT to understand potential threats, locate valuable information, and provide protection to vulnerable communities. Beyond the OSINT work she does on behalf of Digital Silence clients, she leverages her expertise for the Innocent Lives Foundation, identifying online child predators. She also teaches OSINT techniques to a variety of audiences, including law students and paralegals.
