Dan Nelson, Digital Silence Co-Founder and COO, was named to The American Lawyer’s 2022 list of Trailblazers in the West. Through their Trailblazers awards, The American Lawyer recognizes individuals who are “agents of change in their respective practice areas.”
Dan was nominated for his sustained commitment to educating those in the legal industry on the effects and importance of cybersecurity. Before co-founding Digital Silence, he was a Partner at Armstrong Teasdale, co-founding the firm’s Privacy & Data Security Practice. During his legal practice, Dan noticed the demands that counsel faces in keeping up with all the potential changes in numerous industries that may impact their clients while staying on top of their legal needs. He recognized the opportunity to step back from his practice and redirect his experience to support lawyers in understanding the cybersecurity landscape without losing focus on their work.
As a passionate technologist, he has consistently stayed on the bleeding edge of technology and found ways to communicate advancements – and risks – to lawyers who most often deal with the fallout from a cyber attack. As a Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) through the EC-Council, a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) through ISC(2) and a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals, Dan looks to continuously enhance his understanding of cyber threats and how to provide meaningful awareness and preparedness planning to his clients.
Through his longstanding commitment to ongoing education and training, Dan maintains a foot firmly in both technology and the law and adds value to each.
